Kale Chips in Air Fryer – 10 minutes 3 ingredients

If you follow me on Instagram, you know at least 4 times a week I eat a pile of kale chips. They are literally one of my favorite foods, even counting not healthy food. I quit eating them for a while because I hated preheating the oven to cook something that took 5 minutes. You know, because by the time the oven preheats, I’m over it. Enter: the air fryer.

The air fryer is the best invention of the last five years. It cooks everything fast as hell, and make its crispy, my two requirements. It is basically a tiny oven you don’t have to preheat. It makes leftovers taste just like the restaurant, it makes frozen foods taste like you cooked them in the oven in less than half the time. You can even cook meat in it! My personal favorite dish (besides kale)?..Pizza rolls.

Kale Chips

So I realized I could make Kale chips without having to preheat an oven, and lunch was changed forever. I made a quick video, showing you my method.

Air Fryer Kale Chips

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 5 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 1

  • 2 bunches Kale
  • Garlic Salt
  • Olive Oil spray or drizzle

  1. Lay a paper towel down

  2. separate Kale from stems, to allow them to get more dry and more crispy

  3. tear small pieces of kale off, to allow them to cook faster and more even.

  4. Kale cooks down like spinach, so you want to get a rather large pile. Once you have a large pile, coat it lightly in olive oil, and then add any spices you want. My favorite is garlic salt or chili powder and cumin

  5. Put into the air fryer at 370 degrees for 5 minutes

  6. Check every minute, giving it a light shake and making sure no pieces have flown up on the coils and start to burn.

  7. They should be done in 3-4 minutes, they get done really fast so one second it'll be a little soft and the next minute they will be done! Just keep checking

It is so easy to do, they are good, and they are healthy. However, they have to be eaten almost immediately, because they don’t hold their crispiness for very long.

I am happy to be able to finally share one of my favorite recipes with you now that I finally have a ring light and tripod! Because my home, and specifically kitchen, are one of the least photogenic rooms you’ve ever seen. For real, whoever built this house for sure didn’t want anyone to be able to take pictures in it EVER.

So now eat these instead of regular chips, and use your extra calories for wine! Cheers!
